Using Duty Roulettes to Earn Gil in FFXIV

Gil can be earned passively in Final Fantasy XIV through quests, dungeons and raids - among many other activities! There are various methods available to you in which to earn this valuable currency.

One popular method is through Duty Roulettes. These randomized instances grant additional experience, Gil, and Allagan Tomestones - with those queuing as classes in need receiving an added bonus.

Adventurer in Need

Though the game offers numerous Gil sinks, there are still ways to earn significant sums of this premium currency. Some activities may only add small amounts at first - for instance running random dungeons or giving Commendations; others can add up over time.

One of the easiest and quickest ways to earn FFXIV Gil is through Duty Roulettes, which provide players with experience, Company Seals, and Gil. Players can find Duty Roulettes - such as those for leveling, alliance raids, trials and trials - within the Duty Finder menu. Each roulette has specific role requirements - those short on tanks or healers receive additional XP and Gil for queueing into those roulettes!

Leveling Roulette also features a special XP bonus for those under their level cap, with all roulette rewards including Cracked Plainclusters and Cracked Stellerclusters that can be traded in for Materia at Thex's Materia Vendor in Eulmore.

Tomestones of Poetics

Tomestones of Poetics serve as an effective catch-all currency, dropping from high level dungeons and trials (as well as raids that were previously endgame content) and offering players an easy source of cash gil. Players can exchange them into cash at any capital city (Revenant's Toll, Idyllshire or Mor Dhona).

Players can sell these to other players on the Market Board or use them to synthesize crafting components - the latter option being best as there's only so many of these available at once and they have a limit of 2000! Besides this option, these coins can also be found scattered about here and there throughout the game, making for another viable means of spending them all quickly!

Duty Roulettes offer newcomers to FFXIV an excellent way to generate buy ffxiv gil, especially during its initial phases. While not the fastest route, they provide an ongoing source of income that can help fund some of the few Gil sinks present at higher levels.

Leveling Roulette

The Leveling Roulette provides a random level 50-60 light party dungeon that provides bonus experience points for defeating bosses and fulfilling duties, and commendations can also be awarded to specific individuals within a group. Players often give commendations to tanks and healers who contribute most towards raid or dungeon success.

Players can access this roulette by completing either the Main Scenario Quest or "blue quests," marked with icons resembling world maps. This roulette consists of various PvE duties that require reaching at least the current level cap; however, Coils of Bahamut raids, Savage raids and old Extreme trials from this expansion do not appear here.

Introduced with Patch 3.2, Mentor Roulette provides players with an opportunity to fill roles that need additional members. Primarily intended as filler for Alliance Raid rosters, but can occasionally also be utilized for other duties as needed.

Retainer Ventures

Beginning early on in FFXIV, players are introduced to NPC aides that can be sent out on "Retainer Ventures," earning players considerable Gil without much effort on their part. These expeditions, unlike raiding, don't require constant supervision from the player.

Once a retainer has been assigned to a class, it can be sent out on one of several random duties that offer substantial rewards in exchange for "venture coins." Each duty provides experience, Grand Company Seals, Cracked Anthoclusters or Cracked Dendroclusters as well as Gil.

Staying current with materials and equipment is key to increasing earnings. Make sure to regularly monitor the Market Board as other players may undercut prices on various items; selling for less than average asking prices will help your retainer inventory rank higher and generate additional earnings per item sold.
